Your Aceology Approved Guide to Working from Home.

You've been washing your hands to the tune of Hit Me Baby One More Time while keeping a watchful eye on the news for the latest Covid-19 updates. It officially feels like 2020 is being managed by the same organisers as the Fyre Festival but in all seriousness these are crazy times. If like us you are fortunate enough to be able to work from home (WFH) we’ve put together 6 handy tips to see you through.

1. WFH + Masking = Multi-Tasking Magic

You can probably manage the commute from your bed to your desk in 47 seconds flat, so it will be super tempting to WFH in your pyjamas. But try to fight the urge! Getting dressed up will get you into a professional frame of mind. But with all that extra time you’ve saved, we suggest taking your usual multi-tasking super powers to the next level… why not enjoy an at-home facial while you tackle your to-do list? We suggest trying our Detoxifying Modeling Mask - it’s like a charcoal-infused juice cleanse for your face. If your skin is feeling stressed-out or congested, this pore-refining treatment will give you that healthy, holiday glow from the comfort of your own home. BONUS: it works wonders to reduce the adverse impact that urban pollution can have on your complexion.

2. Need Help Staying Clam? There’s An App for That

Stress levels at an all-time high? Same, TBH. If you are experiencing anxiety from all this Coronavirus madness, the Calm App will provide a safe space for you to get away from it all without having to go anywhere. Enjoy a much needed time-out with this mediation app, taking care to consciously breathe for five minutes. If you’ve been experiencing insomnia, the soothing sleep stories on Calm are sure to help you drift off to sleep BONUS: Matthew McConaughey is one of the narrators!

3. Social Distancing Doesn’t Mean Anti-Social

We’ve all been advised to practice social distancing, but that doesn’t mean we have to be anti-social. While we’ve officially left hand shakes back in 2019, we don’t have to go all Hermoine Hermit-son just yet. It’s always a good time for a FaceTime, replace your after work drinks with a virtual hangout. Just remember to BYO vino.

4. Back of the pantry kitchen experiments

Grocery aisles across the country are pretty bare as panic buying reaches fever pitch, so if like us you’ve had to make do with what’s leftover you may be wondering what the hell to make for dinner. We’ve decided to take the “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade” approach and are trying to be as creative in the kitchen as possible. That means back of the pantry kitchen experiments with a side of Jamie Oliver’s Five Ingredients for extra inspo. Time to make mama proud!

5. Read, Listen, Watch

Read: Aceology recommends reading Grown Ups by Marian Keyes. It’s a certified page-turner, which centres around the close-knit, glamorous family, the Caseys. After Cara Casey gets concussion, she becomes loose lipped, spilling everyone’s secrets. In the subsequent unravelling, every one of the adults finds themselves wondering if it's time - finally - to grow up?

Listen: Aceology recommends listening to The Squiz Podcast. Published at 6am on weekdays, it’s your shortcut to staying informed with a bite sized, uniquely Australian take on the news headlines.

Watch: Need a great Netflix binge reco? Try On My Block. It’s a coming-of-age story about four bright, street-savvy friends navigating their way through high school in the gritty inner city of South Central Los Angeles. You’ll fall in love with Monse, Cesar, Jamal and Ruby about 12 seconds into the first episode.

6. Stay Active

Your gym may be a no-go zone but there’s still plenty of ways to stay active. There’s millions of free exercise classes available on YouTube that would take several lifetimes to get through, we’ve got the PopSugar Fitness Channel on high rotation. If you aren’t in actual quarantine, you can take your dog for a walk or go for a jog while keeping a healthy distance from others.
